I’ve been in education as a student and a teacher and I can say that that all educational institutions are not out to make money. Yesterday I spoke with an EC student who said that she was given a hardship grant, the college each term basically gave her back a third of the money she paid so effectively she got the course in 3DS MAX for nothing. Student fees can be as little as 17 Euros to almost 8000 Euros for one years training for a full-time course at.
Of course there are also many training dvd’s if you want to invest some money, but most of the things you need to know can be found online on sites such as enjoycg… As long as your 3d work is good enough you can get yourself a job even though you haven’t had any specific cg education. If you don’t want to or can’t go to such a school you can teach yourself by doing tutorials, lots of tutorials and by doing a lot of cg work you’ll become experienced. There are quite a few professional schools and/or universities a few well known ones are gnomon school of vfx, animation mentor (special, also offers online education), VFS (university) to name just a few… Http://- hmm there are many of course, it depends on how serious you are about it, what kind of education you’re doing/did and how much you can afford. I look for results, and if they can produce they can find work. Talent is talent, and I don’t care if they have a masters degree, sat through endless classes or taught themselves. Desire isn’t even going to get you a seat at an interview unles you’re very lucky.Īs a person that hires modelers and animators, I would say that’s just not true. The industry standard is a minimum 2 year degree plus experience. 'cause they didn’t need a degree but look at the job listings anywhere. It sounds great comming from some of the vets. They won’t transfer and aren’t accredited but are very specialized and a great supplement to a formal education. When you come out of school you’re going to be competing with your peers plus everyone already in the business so get everything you can out of the school you choose. After a couple months of training and you’ll start to see who is going to make it. No matter where you go though just expect to put your social life on a shelf. The Art Institute has a 90% job placement rate but only has one campus with a certified instructor. I don’t see any instructors near Lavergne, Tn. campus and she’s a great instructor, motivating, demanding and knowledgable. I’m currently a TA for Shereen Zakaria at the Earth City, Mo.
No employer can deny a prospective employee getting better education than from a certified instructor. Here’s the list of Autodesk Certified Instructors for 3ds Max.That’s your best bet IMHO.
